Guy repeats as All-ODAC first team honoree

FOREST, Va. -- Kala Guy is now among the elite in Virginia Wesleyan College volleyball history.

Guy (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) has been named a first team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference honoree for the second consecutive year.  She becomes only the third VWC volleyball player to earn the top team recognition at least twice.  Jen Perkinson did it in 2005 and 2006 and Rebecca Leedom followed in 2009 and 2009.

A junior, Guy was a consistent leader for the Marlins throughout the 2011 season, finishing with 360 kills, 55 aces, and 339 digs. The kills total is the third highest in VWC history and raises her career total to 830, the fifth highest total in Marlin history. Her digs and aces totals are also career highs.

Guy recorded double-figure kills 19 times in 31 matches, putting down a season-high 21 against Georgia's Berry College and again against Bridgewater College.  She recorded a season-high six aces twice, against Tennessee's Martin Methodist College and Randolph College, and produced a season-high 27 digs against Hollins University.

She finished No. 3 in kills in the ODAC and No. 4 in aces.

Virginia Wesleyan finished the 2011 season with a 14-17 record, dropping four five-game matches, including one at Washington & Lee University in the ODAC semifinals.
