VIRGINIA BEACH -- A revamped line-up did not deter Virginia Wesleyan College's women's tennis Marlins in any way against Lynchburg College as the Marlins rolled to a 7-2 victory at The Everett Tennis Center in the regular-season finale.
While VWC improved to 8-12 overall and to 6-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, Lynchburg dropped to 1-11 and 0-9.
Rookie Mia Proctor (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) competed at the No. 1 flight for the first time this season and posted an 8-3 win. RookieHannah Parent (Port Tobacco, Md./Indian Head Lackey) played at No. 3 and won 8-2.
Proctor also teamed with rookie Victoria Ryherd (El Paso, Texas/Loretto Academy) to win impressively at the No. 2 slot, 8-0. Rookie Sara Yousif (Waxhaw, N.C./Charlotte Manus Academy) and senior Stephanie Bittner (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) won 8-4 at No. 1.
Virginia Wesleyan competes again on Saturday, April 20, in the quarterfinal round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship tournament. Opponent and match time are to be announced.
