FOREST, Va.--- Virginia Wesleyan College sophomore Katelynn Duncan (Lynchburg, Va./ Holy Cross Regional Catholic) has earned a third team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's tennis honoree at No. 2 singles for her effort during the 2012 season.
The season had its ups and downs for Duncan, as she had to play multiple due to various injuries that nearly crippled the women's team. But, a strong singles effort at the beginning of the spring earned Duncan a 3-1 record at the No. 2 singles flight with wins over Randolph-Macon College, Emory and Henry College, and Guilford College.
After an injury to then number one Calynd Gee (Parkton, Md./Hereford), Duncan was bumped into the No. 1 singles flight where she would meet multiple challenges. But, ODAC coaches felt that her start to the season was strong enough and warranted Duncan's first all-conference award. Duncan produced a final conference record of 4-2 at No. 2 singles.
"Katelynn has had to overcome a lot of frustrating challenges this season," said coach Tom Drabczyk. "It is nice for her take something away from this experience as a reward for battling through everything."
Duncan is an art major at Virginia Wesleyan.
