Virginia Wesleyan falls to Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. - Stephanie Bittner (Westminster, N.Y./Francis Scott Key) and Hannah Rice (Glen Allen, Va./J.R. Tucker) scored a victory at No. 2 doubles to account for Virginia Wesleyan's lone win in an 8-1 loss to Piedmont.

Bittner and Rice prevailed 8-4 over Piedmont's Ashley Fannon and Maria Carter for the Marlins (2-7), who had just five players available. Top singles player Cay Gee (Parkton, Md./Hereford) is sidelined with a torn labrum.

The Marlins will return to action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at LaGrange.
