ASHLAND, Va. -- Randolph-Macon College's Yellow Jackets outscored Virginia Wesleyan College's Marlins 4-0 in the final 14 minutes of the first half Wednesday to open up a 7-4 lead that helped carry the host team to a 14-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory.
The Jackets (9-6, 6-3, ODAC) scored the first two goals of the second half to make it a 9-4 advantage, before rookie Taylor Simon ( Eldersburg, Md./Liberty)scored for Virginia Wesleyan (5-10, 3-6 ODAC) with 17:45 remaining to be played in the second half. But, Randolph-Macon scored the next five goals to pull away for good.
Carla Williams (Magnolia, Del./Caesar Rodney)and Simon led Virginia Wesleyan scoring with two goals each. Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) and Jenelle Whitman (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) led Randolph-Macon with four goals each.
Madison Carroll (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) recorded 13 saves in goal for Virginia Wesleyan.
Virginia Wesleyan closes the season on Saturday, April 19, hosting Randolph College at 3 p.m.
