VIRGINIA BEACH -- Lynchburg College's Hornets scored the final three goals of Wednesday's Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's lacrosse game on Foster Field to post a 13-8 victory over the host Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College.
Junior Carla Williams (Magnolia, Del./Caesar Rodney) scored on a free position shot with 16:46 remaining in the game to pull within an 10-8 score, but could not keep it going.
Lynchburg (6-7, 5-3 ODAC) scored the first goal of the game and never trailed, but never led by more than four goals. Virginia Wesleyan (5-8, 3-4 ODAC) scored timely goals throughout the game to keep the pressure on the Hornets, but could never rally into the lead.
Brooke Cabeceiras (Cambridge, Md./Cambridge-South Dorchester)led the Marlins with four goals. Caroline Kilby scored four for Lynchburg.
The Marlins compete again on Sunday, April 13, at Shenandoah University at 2 p.m.
