GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A strong second half Saturday for the Virginia Wesleyan College women's lacrosse team was not enough to offset a slow start for the Marlins at Guilford College.
The host Quakers scored 12 unanswered goals in the first half and held off Virginia Wesleyan in the second half to post a 16-7 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory. VWC outscored the Quakers 7-2 in the final 24 minutes, led by Carla Williams (Magnolia, Del./Caesar Rodney) and Summer Moore (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) with two goals each.
Eleanor Keene (Wittman, Md./Gunston Day School) led Guilford with five goals. Becca Colley (Wells, Maine/Wells) scored four goals for the Quakers and Lily Colley (Wells, Maine/Wells) added three.
Virginia Wesleyan competes again on Tuesday, March 25, hosting Bridgewater College in ODAC competition at 4:30 p.m.
