Seipp earns conference and D3hoops.com accolades

FOREST, Va. -- FOREST, Va. -- Sara Seipp, a rookie from Gaithersburg, Md. (Gaithersburg), has received recognition from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and D3hoops.com for her play last week.

Seipp received her second selection as the ODAC Player of the week and was named to D3hoops.com's national team of the week for the first time.  She was named to the national team that included Thomas More College's Devin Beasley, Pacific University's Paige Jensen, Ithaca College's Jenn Escobido, and University of Wiscone-LaCrosse's Kassie Robinson.  Seipp was the only freshman on the squad.

Seipp helped VWC to a pair of ODAC victories last week, including an overtime victory over regionally-ranked Eastern Mennonite University,  to take over the top spot in the ODAC standings.  It was also EMU's first loss in 14 home games this season.

Seipp, who has scored in double figures in 15 straight games, notched 19 points to go with seven rebounds and four steals in a 67-56 win over Lynchburg College earlier in the week. She was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.

In the Marlins' 82-76 extra time win over EMU, Seipp scored the final six points of the game as she nailed a three-pointer and connected on 3-of-4 free throws down the stretch. She finished with 27 points, matching her career-high. She added six rebounds, three assists and two steals as VWC moved to 15-2 in ODAC play (18-4 overall).

Virginia Wesleyan competes again on Tuesday, Feb. 14, motoring to Harrisonburg to take on the Eagles of Bridgewater College at 7 p.m. in another ODAC contest.
