Track and Field Set to Compete at The Armory
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College men's and women's track and field teams will be packing their bags and traveling to New York City to compete in the Artie O'Connor Invitational, held in the historic Armory Track and Field Center.
The Friday meet will be one of the biggest meets the Marlins have competed in so far this season.
For the men, we should expect to see huge performances from the star senior Trey White who is currently sitting at number one in the ODAC in the 800m with a time of 1:58.04 and at number four in the 400m (50.94). Fans should also keep a close eye on the 4x400m relay squad that is currently sitting at number two in the ODAC, two seconds off the top time in the league. They should be set to run a fast time as they are getting some of their keys runners back fresh off of injury.
As for the women, Marissa Coombs is set to lead the way for the ladies. She is ranked number one in the ODAC for the mile run, with a time of 4:57.74. That time currently puts at fourth in the nation. Junior Michelle Yates is also set for a big performance after setting a personal best in the weight throw with a mark of 40'6.25" in the Vince Brown Invitational. The mark places her third in the ODAC.
This meet is very important for both the men and women teams, as this is their last regular season meet before the ODAC Championships.
