- Received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Wilkes University
- Only the fourth head coach in the 40-year history of the men's basketball program
- Finished his 12th season as head coach at Virginia Wesleyan College, where he has guided the Marlins to a 267-85 record overall, a 165-53 regular-season mark in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) competition and to eight straight NCAA tournament appearances with a 17-7 NCAA tournament record
- Selected as the Virginia College Division Coach of the Year by the Virginia Sports Information Directors in 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2011-12
- Current 76% winning average ranks him No. 1 among all of VWC's men's basketball coaches and one of the highest in the country
- Has guided VWC to Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships in 2005, 2006, 2009, 2012 and to five regular-season first-place finishes
- Guided Virginia Wesleyan to a 30-3 record in 2006 and to its first National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III national championship in any sport
- Led the Marlins to a 28-5 record and the national runner-up trophy in 2007
- 2005-06 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III National Coach of the Year; Molten/DIII News National Coach of the Year; D3hoops.com National Coach of the Year
- 2005-06 and 2011-12 NABC South Region Coach of the Year and ODAC Coach of the Year
- Macedo-coached teams have set eight of the top nine defensive averages in program history, the top eight marks for three-point field goals made, and the top five totals for points scored in a season
- Spent two years as an assistant basketball coach for VWC, before taking over the head coaching duties
- Prior to coming to VWC, he was a two-year assistant basketball coach at Wilkes University, his alma mater, where the team compiled a 46-11 record, earned two Freedom League championships, one Middle Atlantic Conference championship and made two trips to the NCAA tournament and one Final Four appearance
- A four-year starting point guard for Wilkes, guiding the Colonels to an 89-22 record, two league championships, and two appearances in the NCAA's Elite Eight in 1995 and 1996
- Inducted into the Somerset Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002
