18-1 Marlins climb one spot in national poll
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Victories over Bridgewater College and Washington & Lee University helped Virginia Wesleyan College's men's basketball team to take a step up in the national Top 25 poll.
The Marlins, now 18-1, moved to No. 6 in the D3hoops.com poll released today. VWC was No. 7 in the poll, following a loss to Guilford College's Quakers, who produced another stunner last Saturday by knocking off then No. 9 Randolph-Macon College. R-MC is now No. 11. Guilford remains unranked, while Eastern Mennonite University stayed at No. 18. Randolph College was included in the group of teams receiving votes.
The College of Wooster continued to hold on to the No. 1 spot. The Scots from Wooster, Ohio, are now 19-0, followed by Washington's Whitworth College (19-0) and Illinois' Augustana College (19-0). Williams College (19-1) and Amherst College (18-0) round out the top five.
Virginia Wesleyan returns to competition on Saturday, Feb. 5, hosting Roanoke College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game beginning at 2 p.m. in the Jane P. Batten Student Center.
