White, Kourbaroulis enjoy success in Australia

VIRGINIA BEACH -- Virginia Wesleyan College rising senior Tara White and head field hockey coach Joyce Anne Koubaroulis have returned to Virginia Beach following a winning experience in Melbourne, Australia.

White (Alexandria, Va./Thomas A. Edison) played for the USA College team, coached by Koubaroulis.  The squad defeated Grampians, 3-1, for the A Res title in the Victorian Country Field Hockey championship tournament.  The tournament was sponsored by USA Athletes International. 

The tournament was intended to foster international goodwill and friendship among nations and promote the sport of field hockey.  Individuals who participated on the USA College team were extended official invitations to be part of the squad.

Virginia Wesleyan opens its 2011 field hockey season on Saturday, Sept. 3, playing at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.  The Marlins open the home portion of the slate on Friday, Sept. 9, against Division II Limestone College from South Carolina.  That game will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the National Training Center in Virginia Beach.
